Project 3 – Passive New Build

Project Description

Ashmore Building were engaged by a private client in Co. Meath to complete the build of a new single family Passive home on a large site.
Ashmore were delighted to be given the opportunity to construct this house. The opportunity to construct a fully certified passive house made was a challenge Ashmore relished. Attention to detail is crucial in achieving the passive house standard and great professionalism and expertise is needed to convert lines on a drawing into a building that achieved a Passive House Certification.
We developed a close working relationship with architect Micah T Jones who was readily available to answer any queries that arose, which allowed us to benefit from their knowledge on Passive housing also.

The fine detail started below ground on this house, XPS insulation was used in the rising walls from the foundation up. Low conductivity Basalt Fibre wall ties were used to tie the blockwork together. The 300mm wide cavity was filled with Dritherm insulation. All these details and products were an integral part of achieving the passive standard.
